Think you might have a water leak at your house??
The city of Albuquerque offers a service to its customers to have a consultant come out to your home or business to evaluate your water usage and try to determine if you might have a water leak and could possibly be wasting water in areas where you might not need to be. Richard Chapman of SmartUse (505) 400-0283 richardsmartuse@yahoo.com came out and did a full evaluation for me and actually detected a leak. He was very patient and extremely helpful!! The service is free to have him come out so call him if you think you might have a leak!! He does not do repairs as he is only there to prevent water waste

Albuquerque Recycling
The City of Albuquerque website reports that 1800 tons of garbage are generated per day in Albuqeurque! That is 6.5 pounds of garage per day per or over 1 ton per year!
Most city neighborhoods offer curbside pick up for materials being recycled every week on the same day as your schedule trash pick up day. Many neighborhoods have containers specifically for recyclable items but if your neighborhood does not have one yet simply put all of your recyclable items in a clear plastic bag about 5 feet away from your trash can before 7am on your scheduled trash pick up day and they will be removed that day. Items that can be recycled curbside are:
- Newspapers, magazines, & shopping catalogs
- Junk mail and home office paper
- Tin and steel (small pieces/containers), aluminum cans
- #1 & #2 Plastic Bottles or Jugs, all plastic bottles and jugs with a screw top lid or that have a neck smaller than the base.
- Corrugated cardboard (flattened and bundled-see below for details)
